Getting going again…

20170618_114239(0)Henry the Cat is unsure about this new phone/camera. He turns away from the large camera. Maybe he is less skittish because he can see my face as opposed t black thing which hides it. He sat still for several shots. Munchkin is sleeping on her crinkle bed.20170612_170627Am still learning to use the phone camera, so this shot is not too clear. Focusing is a challenge, only had camera for a few days. Not all posts will be about the cats. Just whatever comes into my scatter brain. By time to think about what to write here, am planning to make a habit of it. If you read anything posted here, it would be good to know about you or your thoughts or your website. Thank you for stopping by! 🙂

Needless, Violence without Reason

Very recently, a lovely young lady entering adulthood with dreams of a beautiful life. She thought she had found true love and was loved in return. Her love was an older person. It soon became apparent that the older person was obsessed with the young lady and wanted to control her every move and moment. The young lady trusted people with an open heart. When circumstances caused the young lady to spend less time with the older person, that person became enraged, kidnapped (not for ransom) the young lady as she left work one evening, took her to a house she knew was empty of people for a few days… and tortured the young lady while holding her captive for two days. When the young lady was finally found, she was taken to a hospital by the police where forensics personnel kept her three hours taking pictures and documenting every bruise on her body, head to foot, and the cuts inside her mouth. If there were other injuries, do not know about them. The older person fled with police chasing behind and crashed the car while trying to escape. That person is now in a custody and under observation for possible mental problems. The house where this abomination occurred is owned by the parents of the older person. They came back from a few days away to find blood everywhere in the house which shocked them totally. They had no idea the older person was “like this.” The young lady is now in the loving care of her mother and grandmother. After a few days of stomach trouble, today she was able to hold down a bit of soup. She is in great pain, for which the doctors gave her medications along with medications to help heal her injuries. Have taken pictures of the young lady in the past… she is beautiful in body and heart. Today received pictures of her current appearance and injuries… hard to believe that this battered person is the same young lady. Cried for hours after receiving the news. i rarely weep due to meds. Cannot get the ache out of my heart.  The young lady has a life in her womb, early months, and baby and young lady are not in life threatening conditions, thanks be to the Creator. But she will never be the same open-hearted, caring, trusting young lady looking forward to the future. This happened in an area where such things just do not happen. Irrational violence (and what violence is not irrational) can happen anywhere, by anyone, to anyone, without provocation, without reason, more and more in this world. Am writing this to try to clear my mind. Cannot go to sleep yet, fearing bad dreams, praying, but not able to get the image of my dear, young friend out of my mind and heart. I pray that all of you never have to be affected in any way by violence, directly or indirectly. It is unfair… but who ever said that life was fair. Having a strong faith, whatever that faith is, can help. Having true friends can help. Using words of caring and love instead of words of hate and discrimination can help. We can all help make this world a better place to be by our caring attitudes, loving one another. Treasure true friends and (try to) love enemies of peace and harmony. Have a good night, be well and live happily.

Daily Life 7/28/2016

Am mostly housebound because of physical limitations, not being able to drive because of medications, and the summer heat here in Arizona. These are not real problems because in my life there is photography and my dear camera. How amazing it is that there are almost daily photo opportunities through my windows, from the little patios, and from short walks. If nothing presents itself outdoors, can find or make something to shoot inside. Will be sharing some of these photos as time goes on. Once again, am hoping to share at least one image a day, with some prose and poetry interspersed.  Am feeling quite well and optimistic that can carry through now.

Today’s picture is from a storm front that passed by yesterday afternoon. Everyone likes to take a rainbow picture. This is my first. “Raining Rainbows?”DSC_0394

Hope springs eternal is an ancient saying, nevertheless true.  Today’s photo illustrates, to me, hope fulfilled. For the seven years living here, have gazed every morning at this young saguaro cactus as it grew taller and rounder. Saguaro live a one-hundred years or more, so their maturity is slow in coming. This year it produced blossoms for the first time! Long and slowly it waited… and now it is reaching adulthood! All life contains hope. People sometimes make hope more difficult to find. People are complicated creatures… minds, thoughts, emotions pull us here and there. Someone very close to me changed slowly and beautifully years ago by “training” the mind. She spoke not much about this, yet changes were obvious… strength, calmness, thinking things out before acting, before even speaking. Peace fills her. Am at the beginnings of following a course on being mindful. It is not religion based, though is completely compatible with religious belief… because it is not a belief system, but a way to harness one’s mind to be able to live a more calm, more thoughtful, and in the end, a more peaceful life. This post is evidence of my hope for a more calm, life, lived from within my mind… yet following all the beliefs of my heart and soul. Wishing you hope and peace, always.DSC_0564

Hot day in Tucson! Noon is 92 degrees F. May get to 109. Yikes! As they say, “it’s a dry heat!” as if that will make it seem less unbearable. lol     Next couple of days may be even “warmer.” Thinking about frying an egg on the sidewalk later on, to see what really happens.

Picture is Miss Munchkin just waking up from a nap. She rests her head on the keyboard which is not hooked up and uses her paws on the keys. She is a bit groggy, so not smiling 🙂

DSC_0687Fernanda is a 3-year-old bundle of energy! Her mind/body seem to be wired for speed!  She is also very verbal. Fun little girl! Took pictures of her last night, playing catch-me-if-you-can. Got a few cute ones that are not blurred with motion, will post when ‘puter is adjusted for such activity.

A New Beginning

A new beginning, a plan, feeling joy and hope! On a new computer, just learning its ways. Not sure how uploading of images will work. Today is a test of that function. If all goes well, we are in working order. If not, will have to find out reasons and correct something.

Above is from a happy time some years ago, visiting two of my (grown) children, touring Hakone Gardens, California. Flew into San Jose, stayed in Cupertino, California. Above, looking upward through a grove of bamboo trees… savoring the outdoor world, the family togetherness, and most of all the beauty the Creator has given us all. 🙂
